Big Bell
As far as ghost towns go this has got some interesting history! Few standing buildings and interesting sites with information plaques to help! It was a massive town at one stage and it didn’t last long! It’s sad to see the big hotel in such disrepair. But enjoy the sites and take in all the history be careful driving around the old townsite lots of rubble and debris we had no issues but just be careful and take it all in have a good look around!

Ghost town it is. Preservation of the past settlers homes is an eye opener to how they lived. Vast collection of old machinery, household items and information on history of the time the town was thriving. The open pit mine is still operating and you can view it from two platforms.

Love this place, drove up from Albany just to photograph the town. Sad to see the reopened mining operations have graded a road up against the historic hotels fence, now every 45mins a massive truck with 4 trailers shakes the foundations 24hrs around the clock. This hotel is crumbling fast with every truck passing. We were camped here for 2 days, found it disconcerting that at sunset while bbq'ing tea our dogs became aware of movement towards the glow of sunset. A scabby prospector" with a rifle on his back and a backpack and pick had sneaked up to our camp to spy on us. Luckily the dogs had spotted him

The ghost town at Big Bell great place to visit when stopping over in Cue lots of history lovely old ruins to explore great pic opportunities however be mindful the road in is heavily corrugated we struggled in our 2WD motorhome wet weather didn’t help either had to abandon heading off to Walga Rock as road was bad would’ve taken us two hours to do 24 k one way so will have to give that one a miss unfortunately..

Wow this place is awesome. Lots of care and hard work is noticeable to make this a special place to visit. Hoover House is beautiful- like an oasis. Great refreshments there too. Everyone is so friendly and lots of interesting history on display. Personally I thought this was better than Sovereign Hill and it's free - I was eager to provide a donation as the visit was so good. Thank you

Gwalia Ghost Town
This interesting mining town has been a standout on my to-do list and it exceeded expectations! The entire town has been abandoned and looked after over the years allowing tourists to walk through the neighbourhood and inside the buildings.Eye opening to see how certain elements of mining villages are still very apparant these days. This is a must see in WA!

Plenty of historic huts depicting yesterday year and what gold prospectors endured. Leonora Shire has done great work in preserving these huts and relocating period shops from Leonora to the Ghost Town for this was once a bustling gold village.Well worth stopping at Hoover House RV Free Camp that overlooks the Ghost Town and St Barbara Gold Mine Site. Can recommend walk to Hoover House for excellent Coffee n Scones. Mine was engineered during its initial constuction and development by Herbert Hoover who later went on to become the President of the United States. He also designed and built Hoover House which is now a B&B.The State Hotel built by government to manage alcohol in the gold rush period is now owned by the Mining Company but remains closed.

A definite must see. You can do a self exploratory tour of the ghost town itself. Just open a door and see how the miners use to live. You must visit the museum as well. Free camping and must be fully self contained at the museum overlooking the mine site.

Being able to wander through the various tin clad houses of the past was a real privilege. Would recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy a real step back in time experience.Well done by the volunteers who put in a lot of hard work into the houses
